British Meat Education Service - the Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) has supported the teaching of food and provided information on the role of red meat in a balanced diet for over 20 years through its education service. The Meat and Education approach is based on identifying and answering educational need. The programme supports both the practical needs of teachers and the development of valuable life skills in students, which benefits them in their lives outside school.

Catering 4 Schools - is a comprehensive fully searchable database of menu plans, individual dishes, ingredients and recipes, all conforming to the national food and nutritional standards for schools. It also contains information on how to achieve a whole school approach to healthy eating; the latest news on Government guidelines, inspections and legislation; and a users' forum where subscribers can ask questions and share ideas.

3. Farm Trails - from the Soil Association. Discover more about organic farming by ‘walking’ one of the web-based farm trails. 5. Food a Fact of Life - educational moduls for Children aged 5 - 7 years and 8 - 11 years from the British Nutrition Foundation. These resources can be downloaded and used in the classroom, they are also suitable for children with special needs or lower ability pupils in secondary schools.

6. FoodForum - food is everybody's business and deserves a key position in every young person's education. The links between food, diet, health and the quality of life are indisputable. Today's young people are already tomorrow's consumers and citizens. There is a need to develop aware, informed users and consumers of food. Food Forum is an independent food education service, supporting an understanding in the use and enjoyment of food.

7. School Milk Project - working with schools, dairies and LEAs to encourage more children to drink milk at school. Facilitators visit schools and can offer help and advice in implementing milk schemes. This website shows you how you can find information on milk schemes, and how to start and run a scheme. It also gives useful contacts that can offer you practical help with school milk.

9. The Year of Food and Farming - aims to promote healthy living by offering young people direct experience of the countryside, farming and food. The Year runs from September to July and during that time, there’ll be exciting opportunities for children.
