About The County of Devon - Devon has an approximate admin population of 731,000 and total area population of 1,110,000 (2005). Devon is in South West England and borders Cornwall to the west, and Dorset and Somerset to the east. A unique England county that has two separated coastlines. Devon is the fourth largest of England's counties, the counties town is the cathedral city of Exeter, and the county contains two independent unitary authorities, the port city of Plymouth and the Torbay conurbation of seaside resorts. Much of the county is rural, and it has a low population density. The Dorset and East Devon Coast, otherwise known as the Jurassic Coast due to its geology and geographical features, is the only natural UNESCO World Heritage Site in England.
