Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Authority
in partnership with the five district councils of Tyne & Wear, is responsible for producing the Local Transport Plan. PTA operates the Tyne Tunnel and sets the Concessionary Travel Scheme as well as fares on the Metro, Ferry, Local Rail and on contracted bus services.

Bus timetables are provided for all local services operating within the Tyne and Wear area and also for some longer distance services operating to/from Tyne and Wear. Covering Gateshead Borough, City of Newcastle, City of Sunderland, North and South Tyneside.
