Rochdale is a town in Greater Manchester Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale located in the North West region of England.
The town lies amongst the foothills of the Pennines on the River Roch, 5.3 miles north-northwest of Oldham, and 9.8 miles north-northeast of the city of Manchester. Rochdale is surrounded by several smaller places which together form the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, of which Rochdale is the largest and administrative centre. Rochdale has a total population of 95,796 from the 2001 census.
