Bolton is a town located in Greater Manchester Metropolitan Borough of Bolton in the North West region of England.
Bolton is situated close to the West Pennine Moors, 10 miles north west of the city of Manchester, it is the largest and most populated part of the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton with population of 139,403 taken from the 2001 census. The polulation has declined over the years as people move from the old town boundaries to the more palatial wider borough, the borough population now around 260,000.
Historically Bolton was a part of Lancashire.
Bolton today is well known for its Premier League football club Bolton Wanderers F.C who play at the Reebok Stadium, Reebok the sportswear company have their HQ based in the town.
