 The Date City Status was Granted by the Monarch
A list of dates when the places now classed as cities in the United Kingdom received their charters of incorporation and assumed official city status. Some cities have no date listed as their city status predates any known historical records. The date is when they officially became cities and is not the same as the date when the settlement first began. Most of these cities existed as villages or towns before they were granted city status.
