14. CAMFED International is dedicated to extending girls' access to education in poor rural communities of Africa. An expanding group of non-governmental agencies in Africa, the USA and the UK. Over 10 years, thanks to the generosity of individuals, companies, trusts and foundations, CamFed have supported girls through primary, secondary and further education and enabled them as young, educated women to lead the regeneration of their communities.

16. RSPCA.org.uk In 1822, Richard Martin MP piloted the first anti-cruelty bill giving cattle, horses and sheep a degree of protection through parliament. Royal approval in 1840 the Society’s work was held in such high regard that Queen Victoria gave her permission for the SPCA to be called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The Arthritis Research Campaign (ARC) founded in 1936, raises funds to promote medical research into the cause, treatment and cure of arthritic conditions: to educate medical students, doctors and allied healthcare professionals about arthritis and to provide information to people affected by arthritis and to the general public.
